  Objectives and Powers (extracted from the Constitution)


  1. To develop the capacity and the skills of the Association members in Northern Ireland and those who are preparing to come to Northern Ireland.
  2. To promote and maintain an understanding of the history and the culture of Indonesia in order to develop good relations between the people of Northern Ireland and Indonesia.
  3. To provide educational services for the Association members to support language needs and improve employability.
  4. To participate and co-operate with other organisations including other ethnic minority communities in order to improve communication and understanding of cultural diversity in Northern Ireland.


In order to further the objectives the Association may;
  1. employ any pay any person or persons to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the Association and make necessary arrangements regarding legal obligations as an employer,
  2. arrange or assist in the arrangement of exhibitions, meetings, lectures, social events and activities, classes, seminars and training courses,
  3. raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons and organisations by way of subscriptions and otherwise,
  4. carry on trade only in order to carry out a primary objective of the Association or is incidental to the carrying out of the objectives,
  5. produce papers, books, periodicals, pamphlets or other documents or films or recorded tapes as shall further the objectives,
  6. purchase or take on lease or exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion of such objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary for the work of the Association,
  7. subject to law, sell, lease or otherwise dispose of all or any of the property or assets of the Association,
  8. accept gifts and borrow or raise money to further the objectives on such terms and on such security as shall be thought fit,
  9. develop links with other organisations and in particular other community groups and ethnic minority groups facing similar issues,
  10. bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, government departments, statutory authorities and individuals to further the objectives of the Association,
  11. establish links and work together with other organisations in Indonesia if and when necessary in furtherance of the objectives of the Association and in accordance with local charity regulations.
